Meet the Craftsman

Built From a Passion for Creating

For Jim, Carved Ridge Artistry started long before it became a business.

Born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin, Jim grew up in Pewaukee and now calls Dousman home, where he lives with his wife and daughters. His connection to Wisconsin—and to the outdoors—has played a big part in shaping both his life and his work.

More than 15 years ago, Jim began experimenting with carved concrete as a creative outlet, building custom pieces for his own home and eventually for family and friends. What started as a side hobby quickly became a passion for transforming concrete by hand into stone, wood, trees, and architectural features that feel like a natural part of the space.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim has always drawn inspiration from nature. When he isn't creating, you'll often find him hunting, fishing, or simply spending time outdoors. That appreciation for the natural world is reflected throughout his work—from the texture of hand-carved stone and wood to custom trees and architectural elements inspired by the Wisconsin landscape.

Over the years, weekend projects grew into fireplaces, bars, feature walls, custom trees, railings, and one-of-a-kind installations. After more than a decade of honing his craft, Jim made the decision in 2026 to turn his longtime passion into Carved Ridge Artistry full time.

Today, every project is still approached the way those first projects were: one piece at a time, shaped by hand, and created specifically for the space.
